3 months before Hockey Wales selected their 2014 Commonwealth games squad I slightly tore my hip flexor. After an appointment with Rachel we established I had a tear, coupled with an overuse injury and reduced flexibility in my spine... I made it to Glasgow thanks to Rachel. We had a plan that supported my physically and mentally, a conditioning and flexibility programme ensured I made steady progress, taken day by day and returned to playing hockey. It’s safe to say that without Rachel's treatment and emotional support I may not have been selected to represent Team Wales.
It has been over 10 years since having my two knees replaced. Rachel was my physio and I was able to play golf three months later. She was very specific and efficient in all aspects of treatment. I am delighted she is opening up her own physiotherapy clinic in Penarth.... Love living here!
Having visited several physios for minor niggles and strains throughout my adult life on sustaining a particularly nasty ankle injury around 18 months ago I went to Rachel on the back of strong recommendations from various friends. The recommendations proved to be well founded and I am convinced that Rachel’s no-nonsense and yet at the same time sympathetic and caring approach was the main reason for me achieving a full recovery with an ankle that now feels as strong as ever. It goes without saying that I have already recommended Rachel to friends and colleagues and will continue to do so.
Rachel treated my calf following a sporting injury in the autumn. She was extremely friendly and enthusiastic. She took time to understand the training intensity and skills required for my sport so that she could create a very specific rehab programme. Thanks to Rachel I was able to quickly return to full intensity training and confidently perform at my last International competition of the year at an even higher level than before the injury. I would highly recommend Rachel’s expertise and skills as a physiotherapist.
Rachel is a thoroughly conscientious and compassionate physiotherapist. I have found her support and guidance very helpful during my retirement from elite sport. She is responsive, thoughtful and very thorough. I cannot recommend her highly enough. I had struggled with back issues, and had sought different chiropractic intervention to no avail, and after treatment with Rachel, I’m pleased to say that I haven’t had any pain with my back since, and that was 3 years ago. I also recently tore my medial meniscus (completely unrelated injury to my back). Rachel assessed the injury and promptly recommended the best course of action. Within 8 weeks of surgery, and being religious with the treatment plan that Rachel devised, I am back on my bike, back at yoga and have even started running again.
Rachel Disley came highly recommended as a physiotherapist that would have the ability to deal with a complex shoulder problem that was exacerbated by work related physical factors. It was critical that she listened and understood my concerns and understood what therapy was needed in the short and long term to ensure immediate relief and to prescribe a weights programme I could complete with my personal trainer to enable me to continue working. Rachel treated my neck with immediate relief and then I used her programme to great effect to strengthen weakened muscles and release tension in other muscle groups. I would highly recommend Rachel as a extremely skilled and experienced physiotherapist.

After breaking my ankle whilst out running, I was thoroughly miserable and thought I’d never be able to exercise again. I was fortunate to have a course of treatment with Rachel, once out of plaster and have never looked back! She was an excellent clinician. Exceedingly knowledgeable in her field. Highly professional and reliable. My ankle felt better and stronger after just a few sessions. Am now back to a whole variety of exercise that I love!
